Because a romantic getaway is far cheaper than Iceland or Africa. It's not because it's outside their comfort zone, it's because they can't afford it. The average woman (or man) can barely take enough vacation days, let alone pay for it.

There is most definitely a relationship between candidate skills, job requirements, and interview result/job performance.
The point is to get rid of all these bullshit subjective excuses when people fail an interview/get fired. The answer is simple: they likely weren't good enough. But no one likes hearing that.
I can assure you that most people in the world have neither of those attributes.
