Yeh, a buddy of mine raves about Syncthing. I'm trying to build something though for the less-technical user. (Admittedly, I probably won't find less-technical users on HackerNews !)
True.
Although I was planning on extending this to mobile devices as well, and also allowing the connections to persist if you left the local network...
At the moment, there's not much that is game like. I was thinking that if you had many people claiming tokens, then you might have factions that wanted to land grab from each other. (Similar to what happened when Reddit did something similar w/ /r/place: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnRCZK3KjUY)
Yes, it was fun to make – and similar to milliondollarhomepage. The building part was relatively easy, using the resources I mentioned. However, trying to get users – which would have been the really fun part – is probably 10X harder than actually writing the code. (If code is never (barely?) executed, is it really code?) :)
