There seems to be a strange connection. Americans don't worry very much about how Europeans do things, they are different but that's fine, but Europeans are obsessed with showing the Americans how they really should be like them. We are not like you, get over it.
I thought the story was all metadata was captured but a warrant was needed for the contents because metadata was ruled to be not covered by the 4th amendment.
This is also a serious downside with FaceTime or Skype on a mobile. You are always looking down at the device and that is seldom a flattering look, double chins etc. I have heard this from numerous people as a reason they don't like video calls.

There has been progress in rolling back the war on drugs. More and more states are decriminalizing marijuana and the Feds don't like it but there really isn't much they can do about it because they don't want to stir up state's rights arguments.
Imagining is fun because it doesn't require facts or logic. Pasting Nixon on to the current situation, while mildly amusing, does not clarify what is actually occuring. It is still far from clear. Is there a solid piece of evidence that Snowden is holding back for dramatic effect? Not releasing it, if he has it, lets the story become a mockery of itself because without any facts all you are left with is your imagination.
When an argument starts failing you move the goalposts and make another argument. Concede the original but claim it is something else that you can better defend.
