They didn't have some secret way of defeating 40 bit encryption; anyone could do it. 512 bit asymmetric encryption was also brute forced by a private entity, albeit at a high budget.

Your answer makes it seem like you too missed the point. If a Starlink sends a 1000W signal to Earth, that is 1000W of power that does not heat the satellite.

Wouldn't "code sign" be two words in English? And "code signing" rather than "code sign"?

When you're talking about changed laws, are you referring to the civil case against E. Jean Carroll? And when you are talking about "charges that the banks said weren't even an issue" are you talking about the civil fraud case? No banks were victims in the hush money case, which is where the felonies are from.

US colleges last one year longer, and the first year is more academically similar to the last year of high school in Europe.

The difference is whether you get locked into having it on or having it off at the end.

If I had missed the point I would have given a much broader list of examples. I specifically listed ones that make employees totally redundant rather than more useful doing other tasks.

When these people were made redundant, they may very well have gone on to make less money in another job (i.e. being less useful in an economic sense).

Self check-out stations, ATMs, and online brokerages. Recently chat support. Namely cases where millions of people used to interact with a representative every week, and now they don't.

The chart is super misleading, since the test was obscure until recently. A few months ago he announced he'd made the only good AGI test and offered a cash prize for solving it, only to find out in as much time that it's no different from other benchmarks.

Wouldn't Google love it if paying became illegal for everyone? After all, if nobody could pay Apple for placement, Apple would probably choose Google, and Google would save $20 billion per year.

How much do you think the total absence of engine noise compensates for the additional distance? Also there could be less attenuation inside the cab if there aren't many soft surfaces to absorb the sound.

There are definitely a lot of families with sleep problems that could be solved if they read "Solve your child's sleep problem" by Richard Ferber (not just the famous two pages about baby sleep training). Many parents I talk to spend years dealing badly with sleep problems.

I was only answering your question, but why can't it be both? Companies like to have celebrities talk to their employees, and rich companies have to pay well.

Citadel probably paid way more for their employees to listen than for her to speak, in terms of wages.

Several of the US delivery services are just people shopping in your behalf and driving the food to you in their own car. For example Instacart works this way.

We had to experiment a bit to find out which store doesn't stock too much bad produce. After we found that out (the answer was Costco) this problem went away.

"Tracking purposes" is such a weasel word, when we're really talking about device management in an enterprise setting, and this code only gets activated if the root/administrator user has installed a token file on your computer.

It'd likely also require proof of liability insurance.

But by European standards, Chicago is a small city of about 100,000 people surrounded by an enormous commuter town.
