After a good time of reflection, questioning mentors etc… Maybe it’s better to press on (in the wrong direction) and learn from it than do nothing and contemplate what we could do or achieve or debate for hours/weeks/months to know if it’s the right decision.

Same! It’s the same principle as CEOs and stock options. For instance Musk that set several goals (x% market share, x unit sold…) and the hardest they get the more he will receive compensations.

I am not sure how much you could negotiate but you can have something like that and being metric based. X% customers happy, x% rating change, x% customers retained when they were close to leave. Then you make the math of the revenue and profit and it’s hard to say no.

And still there are so many leak of personal infos and startup X having been hacked and Y millions of data about personal infos and account infos being leak in the dark web. But like nobody really care. It does a few articles in tech news and some tweets and that’s it. (Now I’m not saying that I don’t think it’s bad but the millions of people around me don’t think it is)

I’m curious, which flashbacks do you have? What do you miss about Israel? If you want to share. I want to go there one day so I’m genuinely curious to know more about your experience. :)

There will be value when we can break the increasing time and complexity of each transaction on a math level. Not with all the current solutions that really break the whole purpose of the blockchain. Until that not really. Only for special cases and still (like maybe big transfer for banks between banks or to manage gold exchange at a Gov level…) Stuff like this. After that yes sure! For now the ecosystem is really full of greedy people with scammers and criminals…

The problem is that all automatic elevators are going to be stamped Amazon and there is hardly any room available for someone else. It’s a bigger and bigger monopoly. I am sure that Amazon is going to automate as much as possible and it will only increase.

Cool story about the elevator. :)

I agree with what has been said but what about a book about proof? It may be something to study that will accelerate the mathematics intuition.

> There's a long running pendulum that swings back and forth from FP. We're currently in an FP cycle.

I think this is also happening because Functional Programming can really give us advantages, but also because it is very hard to understand fully (I am looking at you monads). We see how it can reduce: the complexity, the concurrency problems, or how we can code faster with it. But when we try to use it in a production environment, we give up because it's too complex. So you have this back and forth here in the field, between every wow moment with FP being all cool, and then being too hard to "get" or to use in production.

Now I think we are getting there slowly. Trend after trend, we have more and more the main languages that are really incorporating FP principles. And not just as features. Plus many companies are pushing FP languages forward. Swift is a significant push for it that should democratize FP principles to the "masses", rather than a more "academic" crowd.

Ya it happened to me too. This is why stars on AirBnB doesn't mean everything. We have to check the host profile to see if there are too many "host cancelled" comments, and if it's the case it's a very bad host.
