As we can see these companies can out of the blue force other companies to delete their old articles. There goes freedom of speech just to rank higher on a shi*y search engine that no one smart even uses (I use brave search). Why is everyone ok with ChatGPT scraping Reddit's data and selling it back to you for a $20/mo subscription, but cringe at the thought of Reddit making a profit from their API?
If anything the users creating the content should be the ones being paid.

I began my journey into functional programming a couple months back with Erlang. Interestingly this language helped me truly comprehend the functional like ways of Rust.
My only gripes would be that I've had to switch to Elixir as it's more developed for web development. I actually like the syntax of Erlang more (I don't come from Ruby) and it's a shame that they're split. Also, in Elixir, I attempted to write the fibonacci sequence using memoization and the solutions I saw online were horrendously ugly. Maybe it's because I'm still a beginner but I did see an example in Haskell and it looked so much cleaner.
I love how simple the actor model is and how it just works in Erlang. No ifs, ands, or buts.
For code I think he's forgetting that the people using ChatGPT to write code for them aren't really good programmers. These are mainly people using frontend frameworks that have horrible documentation and use ChatGPT to help them parse the garbage into something that just works. These people would never learn a functional programming language or any assembly. They simply copy the tech that others are using in order to stay employed. What type of code could these type of people, on their own, without ChatGPT produce that is actually useful for others to read or use?
I love how on mobile Brave browser you can add YouTube videos to your Brave playlist and then play them while your screen is locked.
Also I switched from StartPage to Brave search, but I do wish Brave search had a translator feature. Like on StartPage I just search "translate" and get an input box. I find it better than most other browsers' translators.
Obviously I'm not condoning clicking on your ads a few times to get the payout. My account got banned and I haven't used adsense since. Everyone uses adblockers anyhow now... But to PERMA ban someone for this small offense (compared to actual fraudsters that use malware to get ad clicks) is insane.
Especially when your company basically controls the internet. I'll repeat what I said before, Google pick on someone your own size.
What I don't get is how this big company called Google can get so big by scraping everyone's data and then indexing it without paying people. And then they have the balls to lock people out from adsense profits if the user makes the tiniest mistake.
I made a few thousand on YouTube in 2011 I believe and then got heavily into web development. In 2015ish I placed some ugly adsense ads on a site I had and was only a couple dollars away from $100 payout. So... I manually clicked an ad like less then 10 times. Sure enough my account got banned from adsense.
It got me completely demotivated from programming and only last year did I pick back up programming. I was using Node.js and Go back then but I'm now into Rust and Erlang. Not sure how I can profit as I lack work history (giving up on self teaching myself programming also meant I took up dead end jobs), but I'm motivated nonetheless. Google, pick on someone your own size.

Totally agree that some websites need to chill out with their javascript frameworks and start learning how to actually deliver websites rendered in the backend that reduce the amount of data people have to download.

While I believe that money can alleviate their financial situation, I don't see how this is going to fix the root of the problem. In fact, they'll probably just spend the money on online games, food, rent, etc.
This topic hits close (but I'm not Asian), as someone going through what hikikomori struggle with, I believe it would be better to have them attend meetups where they can find like minded people.
