Welcome to the world of companies founded by business school grads. No soul, no moat, just an endless cycle of KPIs and billion-dollar exits to PE.

I just implemented a WhatsApp bot for a small business. Implementation was fairly easy. What was horrible was navigating the mess of Meta Business Manager with personal and business entity accounts, unlinking the app to free the phone number, getting that reverified, yada yada yada. Just give people an easy API setup and start seeing great things happen.

Was that the year they fired the Rust team to focus on paying their executives?

I'd argue the average EU citizen has absolutely no idea how any of the Brussels bullshit works in reality. We learned it in school once, very briefly, just long enough to learn it is a clusterfuck of chambers. We are told it is democratic, and that's it. Once you get older, all you hear is: Brussels forbids this, forbids that. The EU is ripe for disruption.

You are assuming friendly and equal terms for all customers. What if Trump decides there should be 50% tariffs on tokens? Or what if certain use cases get blocked by OpenAI because they do not fit their worldview? Is it clever to implement AI in every step of the economy without the ability to self-host?

Try Claude Code for a weekend. Maybe that clears up the confusion about how amazing AI can be.

You can also take a look at North Korea as an example of a nation that decided the industrial revolution was one to sit out.

The way I see it, we hit a ceiling with the capabilities of AI. Singularity will most likely not happen (not with the resource hunger of current methods). What remains are incredible tools to help remove the most tedious tasks from everyone's work.

We do. But currently we are choosing the Luddite way of doing things. Simply ignoring this fantastic technology is not a choice but economic suicide.

AI is front and center of any new digital product these days. More and more tedious tasks are automated using agents, even in small businesses. Assuming Europe won't invest in datacenters, eventually it will find itself in a position where it is completely dependent on US and Chinese companies providing the core to such solutions to them. This will eventually lead to a situation where more and more value creation will flow towards these economies.

Datacenters need cheap energy, something no region in Europe is having in abundance (except maybe Norway, Sweden, and Finland). I don't think Lombardy was seeing too much DC construction. It's just typical green politics. Forever backwards.

Sure, people feel somewhat AI-fatigued, but blocking the future won't play out nicely for Italy or Europe in general.

Kagi is the only search engine that actually provides me with results comparable to plain Google. I do not need to adapt my searches or learn some sort of syntax to avoid pinterest or other offenders. DDG, Bing & Qwant are just not good enough for my use.

I did. I keep my charging cable close, or basically always attached. Battery life is abysmal. No idea why, had other Linux-based laptops before. Battery life was never good, but never this bad.

Just give us the option to get the quality back, Anthropic. I get that even a $200 subscription is not possible eventually, but give us the option to sub the $1000 tier or tell us to use the API tier, but give us some consistency.

I am not familiar with time series models, but judging from your answer, it would be necessary to feed long time series into this model for it to detect trends. What is a token here? Can it, for the lack of a better example, take in all intraday movements of a stock for a day, a week, a month, etc?

I know the Hustle is a Hubspot content factory, but I got to admit they've been capturing more and more of my reading and (YouTube) watch time recently. They have fascinating topics and seem to be researched very well.

I google a lot (or rather, Kagi). I loved to explore the web when I was younger. But over time I lost any interest in trying to gather informational bits from increasingly shittier websites designed to have more ads and hide relevant information for as many ad slots as possible. These days I hit the quick answer button inside Kagi more often and just accept that I might have some false information in there. If it is critical to be right, I usually consult primary sources directly anyway.

I've been using Linux on my devices for quite some time now. I was pleasantly surprised when I had to start 4k video editing work and could just use Davinci Resolve. 2026 might not be the year of the Linux desktop, but it's getting better day by day.
