I use something similar, along with dotbot (https://github.com/anishathalye/dotbot) to wire up other application’s settings files. There’s lots of good examples around to steal and tweak.
If you need that much information about a variable, I would expect, in general, that the context it lives in is doing waaaay too much and should be broken up.
Seems silly to use the pipe to feed the collection into the first map call. Otherwise pretty nifty, I’ve been enjoying learning Elixir the last few months.
Amen. One of the best things a college career counselor can do is make sure kids know they aren’t special little snowflakes, or super rock-star A+++ awesome. It should not be a shock that an entry-level position is doing entry-level work.
That said, I do it all the time like everyone else. :)
