Each services need to communicate with each other. And, 100 things can go wrong in that and lot of effort and fail-safe mechanisms has to be put in order for it to scale. Having said that there are lots of solutions out there but does require good amount of understanding and work

First question I would ask is do you really need a web framework? With Go, the way language is built or designed - you don't need crazy frameworks. Having said that I do use gorilla package a lot to re-use some of the common middlewares and packages which wouldn't make sense to re-write. But, for API endpoints and all that I am directly using Go.
For my project, I wanted to have an automated and easy code to deployment setup, so here's what I have it working
Bitbucket -> Private Docker Repository -> Tutum (https://www.tutum.co/) - Live app
It's working pretty well. Once you check in your code, docker repository hooked to bitbucket will build the docker image and then you can start deployment from Tutum with one click.
Maybe a concept of badges that you unlock at various stages of your quitting process might make it interesting and once user completes the process can share that final stage!! So, in a nutshell, basic forum to post messages and a way to get motivation for the user should work!
I totally agree, trying to be a very closed community never helps!! Now, they even shut down submission for users with no recommendation from one of their elite members!!
If you need H1B visa to work after masters degree, it's getting more tricky nowadays! With limited number of visas lot of people are finding it harder to get H1B even after US masters degree
That's why I hate working with these so-called APIs, they release it then cut it down or stop it. Never rely on these APIs to build anything significant
