I feel like these games exist- they just aren't popular, or are typically subpar in one way or another. The problem is that I feel like video games have become like music- there is innovation happening in genres, but there are so many and have fragmented off so much that I cant really recommend to you a game I find to be genius because there's a good chance that you can't appreciate the gameplay. That's not a knock on you or anyone else as a gamer.

Does anyone know how to get math and formulas to play well if I am switching to libreoffice? This is genuinely my only concern. It seems that inline formulas are difficult and clunky to edit.

It's really hard to recommend Prusa for the average person when non-enclosed printers go for 1k usd and multifilament is >2k, while creality and bambu go for 700 for multifilament, and much cheaper for single filament.

I'm not saying is the wrong thing, but it's the same reason casual users look at framework and balk at prices.

The tech behind this is fascinating- isn't this just how a wiimote works? So simple yet shocked that no one has thought of this before. Pricing seems incredibly reasonable as well (30$ for a lifetime license). If I didn't have a VR headset I would've bought this instantly.

where do open source apps fit into this philosophy?

Ada Palmer is also the author of "Terra Ignota" which is a highly philosophical and operatic sci-fi series. Incredibly ambitious and unique imo- highly reccommend

From the perspective of someone with a touchscreen windows device, I agree. I rarely used the touchscreen not because it wasnt useful, but because it was unwieldy on windows.

I bought a 2 in 1 and the experience is much better, simply because i can detach the keyboard and use it as a massive tablet. its not as fluid as an ipad, but most of the time its simply mildly annoying to get to the app/browser i want, then I scroll and tap the same way I would on an Ipad. On my regular touchscreen laptop, I have to lift my fingers to use the interface, which simply adds delay for... the ability to scroll a pdf, afaik.

All this to say simply shoehorning touch on a mac is a pretty bad idea simply because the hardware, in its current iteration, is not there. I wonder if they'll release a "macbook touch" thats more akin to a surface for their touch interface.

priced at $1,300 for an i5 with no ram, storage or operating system. Macs really are killing it right now

the fact that I'm into a lot of the topics that you've listed but have never heard of these creators simply underscores the sheer scale of youtube

I mean, a lot of the issues that they says they'll fix can be patched with third party tools. They won't get rid of ads or tracking, or anything significant. affect their bottom line.

As someone who has never owned a mac, the only reason I would buy a pc at this point in time is to install linux on it.

I think its because compsci people know what they need to a greater degree than other majors. It's easier to upsell a computer to someone who doesn't really know about computers.

It could also be possible that compsci kids have a powerful desktop at home, or are more savvy with university cloud computing, for any edge cases or computationally expensive tasks.

i think orcasclicer suffers from the same issue. Not really sure why some oss projects struggle with this issue and others don't (notepad++)

this is personal anecdote, but I've noticed that the overall quality of comments has plummeted quite drastically within the last few months. It's a little disappointing since its why I left reddit. Thankfully, the insightful comments are typically still there- just typically buried further down the thread.

this is truly a seismic shift. I also wonder if it will now be easier to block these ads- there is no need for a sponsorblock type "time skip" when we can just identify ads based on metadata.

dang, I thought for a second that they were "Now" getting serious about drivers for linux.

a lot of people buy rpis because they are the only reasonable option for connectivity with power. I'm not sure what other devices you can get that have gpio and mipi connectivity with the ability to (potentially) run vlms and llms on them.

I daresay they could charge more than a comparably specced computer (if they don't already) and they would still be a viable purchase.
