You might want to look into Colemak, which keeps some shortcut keys in place, is easier to learn than Dvorak and has similar speed/ergonomic advantages. Of course some shortcuts like vi's hjkl break but it keeps zxcv in place.

I'm kind of skeptical to these type of memories, called flashbulb memories, since most of the time subjects give vivid details and are confident when in fact it's just made up details they believed they experienced. So AFAIK I don't remember anything particular about 9/11.
Concerts/shows. I rarely buy music but I still want to support the artists I like and its a great experience. I tend not to go to shows that only sell via Ticketmaster or are exorbitantly priced.
I find it interesting but not to the extent its permeated conversation outside of psychology. I remember cognitive dissonance had a similar standing in pop psychology a while back.
I think that's pretty misleading comparing Silk to Comic Sans. A more suitable comparison would be to something like Helvetica or Times New Roman. Ubiquitous and overused but still a dependable choice.
It's doubly funny when you look at the difference between "use knowledge to make an age-reversing potion" which follows with "use knowledge to build flux capacitor"
I've used Open Office in the past and advocated it to my friends but I hypocritically use Office.
The ribbon for all it's criticism seems to be highly functional, aesthetically pleasing and usable (using pictorial representations that aren't 16x16).
There's a "Save as XPS/PDF" plugin for Office as well, no one has mentioned which works fine.
I only use LaTeX for technical documents with a lot of math, but the Office equation editor does the job nicely with a few quirks here and there though.
My only qualm is the lack of ligatures and kerning in Office, which will hopefully be added in '10.
I must be uninformed about something but why is Pirate Bay getting all the flack from the DMCA; having their servers raided, going to court, this. Aren't there a dozen other torrent indexers to persecute?
Zero-tolerance, in schools anyway, is zero-thought for the administration and principles, having to deal with the grey cases, setting exceptions when they're education administrators not lawyers.
I doubt a student who did a similar action (stealing and returning a library book) would perceive themselves as morally wrong even with a zero-tolerance policy in place on 'stealing'.
