I'm really disappointed with the Internet Archive's level of unprofessionalism when it comes to any form of downtime whatsoever (let alone the blog). The monolithic one stop shop "Internet Library" can not even bother to put updates on their downtime page and instead directs their user base to social media platforms.
Call me a nut, but I feel the IA would work better if it was run by the Library of Congress, but then again that has it's own pitfalls.

I think that the strongarming is a result of them actively trying to target the layman, them not wanting complaints from newbie users who lose their password. Not that that justifies it of course.

From what I've heard, despite explicitly opting out of telemetry, it often makes requests to “laptop-updates.brave.com” which is actually also used for affiliates.
Not a problem, I just won't visit anywhere dodgy. Either way, I've got the latest service pack and have been using them for a year or so every day without issue.

It is somewhat understandable why some people associate terrorist attacks with Muslims, as unfortunate as that may be. Not that I'm saying that Muslims commit the most terrorist attacks, it just so happens that the most well known ones in the west happen to have been committed by Islamic extremists. E.g, WTC 93, 9/11, London Bombings, Boston Marathon.
