SEEKING CONTRACT WORK - remote, email in profile. Location: West coast, remote only.

I'm a data scientist with more than 15 years experience who has worked with major automakers, shipping companies, and F100 companies, I'm looking for my next project. An ideal fit is a small/medium company with green or brownfield problems that need solving.

I'm skilled at building from 0 to 1, I normally do what is now called data engineer, data scientist, and machine learning engineer as one person. My work usually involves finding non-traditional datasources - Once it was USDA data for rural community demographic enrichment, Several times it was getting hands on with people or equipment. If we work together I'll do what I need to in order to solve the problem.

Technologies/techniques: Machine learning/AI, LLM's/RAG, All the tools surrounding ML and AI, A whole host of others.

Contact me if you have a tough challenge I can gnaw on.

The 90s was a time when computers were doubling in speed every 18 months. I remember office 97* being lightning fast on. A 366mhz celeron - a cheap chip in 1998.

You could build fast software today by simply adopting a reference platform, say. A 10 year old 4core system. then measuring performance there. If it lags then do whatever work needs to be done to speed it up.

Personally I think we should all adopt the raspberry pi zero as a reference platform.

Edit: * office 2000 was fast too with 32 megs of ram. Seriously what have we done?

Location: Canada Remote: Yes (Pacific time) Willing to relocate: No.

Data scientist with 15 years experience - Before people even knew to call themselves "data scientists". I'm an experienced data scientist who is looking for new projects to take on. My usual consultancy has taken on a massive healthcare project which I'm not able to participate in as I'm Canadian. So I'm out looking for projects myself.

My past projects have included things like wound identification, AR repayment prediction, mechanical systems failure prediction, and chat agents.

I'm currently very interested in ML safety/security. This is a Greenfield area that no one is taking seriously at the moment. I expect it to be extremely important in the near future.

My contact details are in the profile if you're looking for someone to join your team, or if you want to collaborate on a project.

I already did, over a decade ago. I tell friends "No cloud services on this ship!". They've bought into it too, buying more CD's, records and dumb only TV's.

My current setup is an old 1080P Bang & Olufsen setup. Looks and sounds great. Similar with audio - B&O did airplay back in the 80's called master link. So each room in the house can play music from anywhere else.

The only things networked are actual computers and phones. That's more risk than I want to handle, no need to add more. Similarly I've passed over smartwatches for good quality Swiss watches that'll still be worth something in 18 months time. I swear I'm not some character from a William Gibson novel.

I expect at some point old school offline stuff will make a comeback like Vinyl has. Society lags a good 10-20 years behind the frontrunners. Sometimes more.

Mr.Wizard far surpassed Nye, even back in the day. There was never any competition. Nye was always an entertainer first, science teacher second.
