Apart from what everyone else said (take time off and see a doctor) I’ve been following this advice:
- work the absolute minimum you can get away with. No overtime.
- treat sleep like it’s your job. Get 8 hours of sleep no matter what.
- do not take any extra responsibilities at work. Just say no. That includes studying for certifications, personal projects etc.
If you’re in a bad way it will likely take a few months before you feel better but it does work. I now find it helpful to go into this mode whenever I get the slightest hint of burnout coming on.
So you expect to be on top of the world all of the time? You seem to have a lot problems but your career isn’t one. You’re in an extreme privileged position. Treat your therapy seriously because no job will make you happy if you don’t get a grip.
Try a consultancy. I work at one and there’s huge demand for senior engineers with workload that’s just what you’re after, as long as you have cloud experience. Pay is good too.
