Noticed a lot of false positive too since the new year.
After investigation, it appeared that the ahbl.org's RBL was now wildcarding everything as spam : http://ahbl.org/node
In my particular case I use my own servers that flags mails before sending them to google.
I doubt that google relies on ahbl but most servers with a old version of spamassassin do.
IMHO Those false positive by gmail might be due to a large amount of false positive forwarded to them by servers that rely on spamassassin.
Echonest can work with voice but is optimized for music so you might encounter a lot of false positive with it.
Check out the echonest board on google. It's a recurring topic.
Shazam Mac osx app is quite powerful. It doesn't only listen to your mic so it will detect the song even when the sound is off.
Also it often detects a song playing in somebody's else headphones at our office.
Kinda creepy sometimes.
I think I've read on the echonest board that the most common solution is to index multiple pitch variants of the same songs. Apparently that's what Shazam does.
Also the guys from Trax-air.com are doing something pretty similar to you guys but with pitch/bpm bending support.
the loopz seems to be a cool concept. Still I'm not sure what problem you are solving:the website doesnt help me to understand anything and only the blog post helped.
btw I'm in a similar situation : 34 with 2 kids + one on the way and I'm almost out of money after investing on my 2nd startup.
You shouldn't see this as a desperate situation but as a challenge with an opportunity to focus on what really matters ( in your life and in your company ).
Good luck ;)
