Well, maybe this is the ONE. But I've heard "git for data" way too many times to jump on board of the latest tool. I'll wait till "dust settles" and there's a clear winner. Till then, it's parquet, or even pickle.

Like Conway's game of life. Time and distance are the same thing. On a chess board, it takes a King 7 moves to reach the other end of the board, regardless how long it takes someone to make that move, or how big chess board is - from King's pov its all the same. Also heard somewhere "speed of causality". There must be some good argument for why it couldn't have been any other way.

Maybe for its time it seemed like a good idea.. Like SOAP or manual features for image classification. Today, it's clear that languages and knowledge don't really work like that, and it's not practical to approach them this way. I've learned about the OWL and SPARQL 12 years ago, and it already felt like a very dated idea. But then who knows... Everybody have given up on NNs once too.

Doesn't make sense to me. Why would anyone want to have their bookmarks managed by Google if privacy is their goal. I understand that this is about features you get when you login into browser with your Google account, which I doubt people who value privacy will do anyway. Importing bookmarks (or managing them some other way) seems almost trivial compared to other challenges of using linux, I don't understand why there's such emphasis on this. As for spellchecker - perhaps having your text sent to Google in full is not something necessarily desirable. Maybe I'm missing something.

Interesting article, I've heard argument that nuclear war could cause human extinction, but never thought about it twice. Once you put it like this, it's almost obvious that those claims are hugely exaggerated. Great exercise in critical thinking! Though it's of no practical use, since it's obvious that no financial, territorial or political gains would be enough to justify a nuclear war.
