>Yes, Apple can dictate terms in its own store the same way that your local grocer can.

Would be all well and awesome if you had any freedom of choice on Apple's platform and weren't forced into being locked into their ecosystem where you pay a 15% Apple tax on every purchase. Say what you like about mobile platforms but making ridiculous comparisons like this doesn't help your case.

>2. Who has an even weaker claim than all other claimants? The British Museum.

One of the laziest dismissals I've ever read on this forum. Yep, the world is this zero sum game where they should just dump it on whoever and then let all the competing entities argue amongst themselves

I think Paradox games tend to scare people away by leading them to think that all of the minutiae of their mechanics matter far more than they actually do.

It seems incredibly complicated at a glance, but as you say a lot of the details might as well be inconsequential unless you're somebody obsessed with min-maxing your game experience.

>My personal hope is that Charles is a bad monarch, and William turns out to be one too. That would probably be enough to get us a (ceremonial) presidency on the Irish or Israeli model.

There isn't really a whole lot that monarchs can do in this day and age to be "bad". The criticisms of Charles exist, of course, but the monarch doesn't really have to do anything other than avoid scandals and be a good figurehead. Replacing the monarch with what will, at best, be another faceless Labour / Tory MP doesn't exactly sound like something to be wished for as far as I'm concerned.

Seems bizarre that this is what people take issue with and yet they're happy otherwise to hand over their data to FAANG companies. If you're concerned about privacy / data misuse you shouldn't be using these services at all and you should have been pointing out the issues years ago.

It's a difficult question to answer without knowing more specifically what exactly you're trying to do and what level you're at if you're looking for tailored recommendations.

Assuming you have some experience already I find the best way for me personally is to just re-implement something I'm already fairly comfortable with in X/Y/Z language / library you're trying to learn. The problem solving along the way of doing so will teach you much about the quirks of whatever it is you're trying to learn.

Without specifics otherwise it just comes down to the usual generic advice given - check out the official docs, take a look at interesting existing projects that interest you, etc...

For a list supposedly compiled by someone introducing themselves as a Brit returning from abroad it's funny how it reads as a mixture of cross Atlantic cliche (ah yes, those funny, quirky Brits and their marmalade) to the usual tired stuff about how the national character has supposedly changed over night with the advent of Brexit.

The UK isn't without its challenges and issues at the moment but there are many far worse places you could find to live.
