In defense of using thanks for everything, the "thanks" (at least in my case) is meant more as a "Thanks for taking the time to read this email" and less "Thanks for reading this email" Time is the valuable part there, and someone dedicated the bit of it they have on this earth to read my email.
I think saying these fringe "political" groups are "solidly left" or "solidly right" really feeds into the hate and divisiveness they are designed to create. They're all either misled and disinformed or misleading and disinforming. They have no place in politics and are largely designed to generate that "us vs them" mentality. These groups are the fringest of the fringe and are far from "solid"
Not sure where you are that fresh grads get compensated with $200k but please, as a fresh grad who spent 6 months job searching and just accepted a software engineering job for $50k, let me know.
