Apple is a brand name first and foremost. even if the could eat price increases, they cannot suffer the indignity of pricepoints matching the tech plebs.

to keep their royal status in conspicuous consumption they must be seen as the choice of the rich

its merely a coincidence that their hardware has kept pace with their brand identity.
