> it seems like extremely large families in the US are almost always evangelicals

It's possible this has changed but I would name Catholics and Mormons as topping the large family demographics in the US (although in 2015, Pew disagreed¹ with my assertions about Catholics).

Does this challenge your overall point about conservatives? I'm not sure.

It is my experience that a rise in Evangelicals' political power is eventually followed by returns to their historical disregard/animosity for Catholics² and Mormons³. Being on the receiving end of serial demonization can shove folks away from the ideologies that generate it.

This seems on-brand for Thiel. His lack of scruples were on bright display, back when he bankrolled the demise of Gizmodo (as an act of revenge for outing him).

They were on display when he firehosed cash to the WH occupant, in trade for dismantling the safeguards protecting US's most sensitive data and allowing him unprecedented access.

And the thing about unethical actors is they tend to see evil everywhere, except what is inside themselves. In 2025, Thiel declared the Pope is the Anticrist. https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/peter-thiel-antichrist-remarks-pop...

The baited answer is something I haven't run across before.

a highly classified internal Microsoft project codenamed "Microsoft LEGO".
aka: the Basic Block Tool (BBT).

the BBT operated on the compiled binaries.
Shuffling the internal basic blocks of the code improved
    efficiency and sped up execution.

a basic block is a sequence of straight-line code that has exactly
one entry point and one exit point, with no jumps or branches
in between. Microsoft engineers could rearrange them within the
binary to optimize how the processor handled the instruction

I grew up in the DC area and was a cub scout during the bicentennial. It was an endless series of events, stretching over months. We saw the Tall Ships. The Air and Space museum just opened along with the first line of the DC metro. We did a Jamboree ... somewhere. AP Hill probably.

We all had school pics that looked like this: https://media.muckrack.com/profile/images/168525/marcy-wheel...

This time, it's a very different vibe. In 1976 we loudly celebrated the diversity that made us better.

This year, what is most worthwhile about the US - what is ethical, thoughtful and kind - all of that is under brutal attack by the most powerful, ruinous, corrupt interests I've ever witnessed.

It isn't at all clear to me what will remain of us in 2076.

What we know about this document

Although it gained notoriety through radio host
Milton William Cooper's 1991 book Behold a Pale Horse,
credit for its compilation is attributed to
Lyle Hartford Van Dyke Jr., who emerged years later
claiming to be the principal author of it.

In a letter dated December 2003 to Paranoia Magazine,
Van Dyke wrote that he had compiled the manual around
October 1978, sent out about 65 initial copies to
personal contacts, and that one copy he gave to a
hitchhiking military individual at McChord AFB
ended up in the copier's surplus sale.

Micron's chief business officer has hinted, that Apple's tough supplier
negotiations contributed to the conditions behind the global memory
    shortage.

Sumit Sadana explained that Micron was unable to fund capacity
expansion during the industry's previous slump, a period when its
margins turned negative partly because some buyers pushed relentlessly
    for lower prices.

"We told a couple of the customers who were being very aggressive with
pricing at that time that this is not constructive. A lot of the industry
investments got shut down in 2023 because of really poor pricing and really
    poor margins."

BBC Radio 4 is moved to the inactive chart of the Longwave Broadcaster List (153kHz-279kHz)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_longwave_radio_broadca...

Seven stations remain; they're in Algeria, Mongolia (x3), Morocco, Poland, Romania.

Apparently, public longwave radio broadcasters were never a thing in the Western Hemisphere. Too bad.
